The GLAMOUR Summer Edit

So the GLAMOUR beauty boxes have become a somewhat regular feature on my blog – not once have I been disappointed by the selection of products, and I have found products in each edition which are now a part of my every-day routine! I was really longing after the summer edit, but recently I’ve been trying to hold back my money a bit as I have a trip to Harrogate coming up with some friends and Will, and Amsterdam with Will! Luckily, Will gifted this to me as a birthday present and I am honestly soo pleased; I think I would have skipped it had he not. (*Insert crying face* 😉 ) The GLAMOUR summer edit costs £17.99 and you can buy it here.

These boxes usually come with a mixture of full sized and sample sized products; with two mini-breaks coming up I’m really pleased to have some smaller bottles in the mix! The summer edit came with a L’occitane shampoo and conditioner – said to gloss, nourish and soften the hair. I haven’t tried L’occitane products too much, but I have heard great things about so many of the products. This duo smells really subtle and is made with a blend of five essential oils; including ylang ylang and sweet orange. I’ve only recently become more obsessed with what I put on my hair so I’m excited to try these out. (They’ll definitely be coming on one of my mini-breaks with me!)

Pixi is another brand I’ve recently heard tons of things about – I think after Zoella talked about one of the products, everyone ran out to try the brand and by the looks of things, no one is disappointed. The summer edit comes with the Pixi glow tonic, which exfoliates, tones and tightens the skin in one. I haven’t tried this yet but after all the hype around the brand I can safely say I am so excited! I’m pretty sure I’ve tried a ‘balance me’ eye cream before (which I liked,) so the toning body polish has intrigued me. Another all in one, this is said to exfoliate, tone and moisturise – I’ll let you know if it does! At a first glance/smell, it’s has a strong floral, slightly musky fragrance, which isn’t my favourite to be honest, but if it does what it says on the bottle I’m sure I’ll get good use out of it!

I also recieved a bottle of Caudalie’s divine oil in this beauty box. It says it ‘adds an extra sheen to your hair, face and body’ – which still doesn’t make much sense to me, but the little leaflet that comes with the box says add a few drops to your bath to tackle this all in one! If I’m honest, the smell reminds me of ear drops (a.k.a childhood trauma,) but I’ll be sure to let you know if I’m left feeling extra sheeny. 😉

photo 3 (5)A problem I’ve faced for a couple of summers now is sun-creaming my face. As a very pale person I know sun protection is extremely important, but I really hate the oily, sticky residue so many sun creams leave – especially on your face. Even in the summer I wear makeup, so a sticky base is not ideal! The answer to all my problems is (hopefully,) the Eucerin sun fluid mattifying face cream; which I received in SPF 50. The variarions I could have received are the matte version or the non-matte, in either SPF 50 or 30 – I definitely received the best of the bunch for me. This in unperfumed and actually doesn’t smell of much at all which I’m really happy with. I’ll definitely let you know if this is a new found holiday hero!

I feel like I’ve received a lot of chubby sticks recently without actually going out of my way to get them – not complaining! This edit brought a Bourjois lip crayon, which you can receive in the hot pink shade I have, a lighter pink or a beautiful nude. In this case, I actually received my last choice – I have a lot of bright pink lip crayons now! But the beauty with products like this is you can layer to your hearts content, so I’ll probably be mostly wearing this in thin layers.

I haven’t yet tried Nails INC nail varnish, but I’m really drawn to the packaging and beautiful array of colours. You get one of three possible shades, and with this product I received the shade I was hoping for most – uptown. This nail varnish has a gel effect thanks to ‘placticiser’ technology, (you tell me!) apparently with two coats you’ll have long lasting ultra glossy nails. I really hope this is the case as my nail varnish doesn’t last me long at all compared with the length of time I spend painting my nails!

This box also comes with temporary tattoos – which honestly I’m not a giant fan of. I don’t mind the idea of temporary tattoos but the designs are quite plain and honestly I think I would have been a much bigger fan a decade or so ago.. I’ll find some use for them though!

Finally, the star of the box in everyone’s eyes is the Vita Liberata Trystal Minerals powder. (I swear new beauty brands are trying to think of more and more complex names!) This product is a self tanning bronzer, which you dust across your face to let a natural-looking tan develop, which can last up to five days. I’ve heard people say this works for most skin tones so hopefully it will agree with me, and I absolutely adore the rose gold brush it comes with – soo soft!

Overall I am really excited to try out the different products in this box, and I can’t wait to see what GLAMOUR bring us next! Are you thinking of buying this box?
