Hello my lovelies! So I’ve been wanting to subscribe to a beauty box for a loong time now – I’ve only ever tried Latest In Beauty beauty boxes (which are absolutely amaazing!) You don’t subscribe to Latest In Beauty boxes though – so whenever you see a box you like, you just buy it there and then; which I quite like the idea of actually. I have never been disappointed by a Latest In Beauty box so my standards were relatively high for my next brand of beauty boxes. After long deliberation I decided to go with Birchbox (this and Glossybox were the two main runners for me!) I went for the three month package and I figure, if I’m not totally convinced on this box after my three months, I’ll just cancel this subscription and try another brand! (The total for three months cost me £38.85 including shipping – £12.95 a month.)
I already knew some of the samples in Birchbox can be quite tiny, so I was prepared for that. What really sold me was the amazing high-end brands Birchbox constantly delivers – I thought it would be the perfect way to try out some more high-end products without the commitment of buying the whole thing.
Birchbox boxes vary from person to person; you may see a review showing some products you absolutely love, but that doesn’t mean you’ll get the same handful yourself. When opening my box I was happy to see brands such as Lord and Berry, Benefit, Laura Mercier and Rituals – all brands I’ve loved products from in the past. Along with these were brands I hadn’t previously heard of: beauty protector, Huygens and L. Erickson.
First up, primer. I have also received this Laura Mercier primer in a previous Latest in Beauty box – I find this really lasts well even with a smaller sized bottle. I was really excited for the Lord and Berry blush, but oh my geez it is the smallest sample! I don’t really know how I’m going to get this product all over my blush brush, but I’m sure I’ll find a way! The little booklet this comes with recommends to also use it to create a dusky eye, and an ombre lip; I’m really looking forward to trying these out and I wouldn’t have thought these uses myself!
I’m really quite excited about the Beauty Protector detangling spray, it smells of candy floss – which is just amazing even without the incredible use, but it works really well as a detangler! For long, manic locks like mine this is a little saviour! I reckon this will only last me a few uses as I do have a lot of hair, but maybe I’ll fall in love and go for the full size.
The rituals product is a sweet orange and cedar scented body scrub, which smells absolutely delicious! I’ve never tried this product before so I’m going to love tucking into this. The other scrub is for the face – Huygens exfoliating cream. I really love the packaging and texture of this product, but it smells like a lemon cake or something.. As much as I like eating lemon cakes, I just don’t like the thought of it all over my face. I don’t know, maybe you’ll love that!
The only other makeup product other than the blush, (I don’t count primer – that’s more ‘prep’ in my eyes,) was a mini benefit sample, high beam. I actually have two full sized versions of this which are taking forever to use up so I know I won’t get round to this, I’ll have to give it to a friend! The sample is absolutely teeny, but as I said, it does last a while so it doesn’t really matter with this product.
I also got a hairband from L.Erickson, which I don’t love but I will use! And finally, a sticker sheet of emoji symbols, again, I don’t need this in my life but I’ll find something (or someone!) to stick them on.. (Insert cheeky devil face 😉 ) Overall, I’m excited to see what else Birchbox bring me next, I wouldn’t say whether I would or wouldn’t renew my subscription yet so we’ll have to keep an eye on the next two months’ boxes!
Have you tried a subscription beauty box?
