Fairly recently I signed up to be a part of the Boots Testing Panel (read my first post here.) Since signing up I’ve been sent three things to try out – from hit and miss to more exciting products! The panel is open to everyone and anyone who wants to try out and review new products for Boots – they then send you questionnaires to see if you suit the products. (Based on age, skin type, skin concerns and more.)
The only thing that quite annoys me about the panel is the fact you never find out the brand of the product – so you could trial and really love something, but never find out what it was – booooo.
The first product I was sent was this bronzer – which I found adequate. It worked as well as most drugstore bronzers I’ve tried, but was nothing special and had a bit of a weird smell. (Like it was trying to be chocolatey but actually smelt a bit plasticy, play-doughy and not very nice! – The smell does disappear as soon as it’s on though so tis not the end of the world my friends 😉 )
The next product I was sent was this eyeshadow palette – I saw the colours on the questionnaire and knew I wouldn’t be a fan of most of the shades on. I put other products ahead of this in the rankings of what I wanted to try, but was sent this anyway. Long-short, it’s not very pigmented, the colours are mostly not ones I’d reach for and I could have gone without. But, that’s why Boots run these panels, to get the majority vote and see whether products are worth it and how to advertise.
The most recent product I was sent (only a few days ago,) is a minty, tea-tree smelling face scrub. I’ve only used it once so far but I really really love it!
