Hey hey hey hey! So me and my boyfriend recently got back from a four-day mini break to Milan – we had the best time there involving slightly too much walking, and a few too many cocktails(!) but after having the best long weekend in a very long time I wanted to share what we got up to! Get ready for some pretty sexy views, smokey bubbly drinks and a whole lot of Pizza…
We jetted off on Friday the 24th (June,) after having to bin a load of liquids because I overestimated the amount I could bring – I filled up a whole liquids bag and half of my boyfriends haha! Nightmaree. After landing we headed straight for the hotel..
We stayed in a Junior suite in Townhouse 12; which we found for a seriously good deal on Expedia. The suite was amaaazing – with two big shower rooms, a living room with a little bar bit and a bedroom with sky tv, not too shabby my friends.
Seeing as we hadn’t eaten since around half seven that morning (it must have been around three or four in the afternoon by this point,) we headed to the Duomo area and found a nice little restaurant. We ordered two pizzas but annoyingly they were the ones without tomato! The main reason this stressed me out is because the pizza was sooooo good, so with the added tomato making it an actual pizza it probably would have been up there with one of the best ever – boo!
We had a walk through the beautiful shopping arcades, and then found a (semi-)rooftop bar and had a €15 (eeeek!) drink each! We headed back to the hotel, had a sleep, and went out for some more drinks on a cute strip near the hotel- drinky drinky.
The next day we went for a little rooftop walk over the arcade roofs – it was literally just us up there so it was really nice and peaceful, however possibly a little to hot to be in direct sunlight haha!
We had a little stroll…
And headed for Piz pizza – rated number one on tripadvisor out of over six-thousand restaurants!. We were greeted with a free glass of wine and free slice of pizza, and then taken to our table. There were three pizzas to choose from and no English menu, so after being explained through each one we both went for cheese and tomato – plain and simple. The pizza was genuinely the freshest one I had ever eaten in my life – you could taste just how good every ingredient was, and considering it wasn’t too highly priced it was definitely definitely worth the money!
We stopped for an ice cream… (I had kinder and mango flavours, nomnomnom.)
We walked what felt like 10000 steps up to the top of the cathedral, to some gorgeous architecture and views.
And after walking down went inside the cathedral. I had to go to H&M to buy leggings and a cardi to be allowed inside which was boiling and made me want to cry slightly, but it was beautiful inside and worth it!
We headed back to the hotel to rest our tired little legs, and after a couple of hours came back out for dinner and drinks. (I did mention a lot of cocktails! 😉 ) We went to an organic burger place – Baobab burger – where I had a veggie burger and fries. The fries were possibly the best things in the world – so fresh and perfectly seasoned. This place was a really good find!
I had been looking for snazzy bars in Milan online and found the most epic looking place called Nottingham forest – where you can choose between sooo many cocktails in the most funky forms! We waited outside for about 15-20 minutes for a table (we thought the wait would be longer so we were happy with this,) and sat inside the bustling bar. My first cocktail was called Thai Box, and I was delivered a cute little wooden box. (Shock I know 😉 ) When I opened the box I was greeted with a cloud of smoke from a lit incense stick in the box, my cute cocktail and a fortune cookie, cool times my men. 😉 We had three cocktails each here, at the fixed price of €12 a cocktail, and headed back to the hotel to recover from a long day! (I will be writing a full post about Nottingham forest as it was seriously the best place in the world so keep an eye out for that!)
I will write up our final two days in a separate post as we crammed way too much in that this could not be a sit-down-and-read-in-one-sitting kinda post!
