The Zoella Jelly & Gelato collection | Demo & First Impressions

Hello my beauts! Todays post is a little round-up on the Zoella Jelly and Gelato summer collection. I’ve actually made my first, (extremely awkward) YouTube video to coincide with this post so give it a watch if you want to see the products in action – I will love you forever! (it’s at the end of the post.) Without too much rambling prior to a post full of rambles, here’s what I think…

First up, I think the idea for the range is amazing – jelly and gelato is undoubtedly summery and the packaging also captures this time of year. I do prefer the sweet inspirations packaging (it was so Parisian and beautiful – the old post is here if you’re interested,) but I feel like for this range the packaging suits well. The fragrance itself is double cream with notes of elderflower and pomegranate. I personally don’t smell any pomegranate but the other two are definitely there. At first sniff I really wasn’t in love – I was actually a bit deflated and didn’t think it was for me, but the scent is growing on me now. I had a bath using all of these products and I really liked the smell after having bathed in them, so I do like it more and more.

My favourite product of the bunch is the shower shake – which I didn’t expect when purchasing! (I actually just bought it as an add-on because it was fairly priced in an introductory offer.) It’s so thick and creamy, so even when you’re soaking wet it sticks on your skin and absorbs the moisture in, love loooove. I always rave about Ro’s Argan Body Conditioner from LUSH, and this is absolutely up to standards and cheaper per weight too – win win.

I originally bought this range because of this product – the pink bath wafers. I envisioned this product as lots of little wafers like the actual ones you put in your ice cream cone – which I’m pretty sure Zoella even described it as herself. Although I see the similarity, this is definitely not would I would describe as that ahha. It’s very chunky and a bit fiddly to break off the perfect amount. (Unless you use a whole half at once.) The product doesn’t turn your bath any colour or add too many benefits other than scent; it says it’s moisturising but I haven’t seen too much of a difference. I don’t know if I’m mainly disappointed because I expected something quite different, but I won’t be repurchasing this one again.

The cream scrub is the exact texture as the tutti frutti scrub, so it just carries a different scent. As with the last scrub, I don’t find this product scrubs particularly well. I do think if it was labelled a body buffer or body smoother even, I would appreciate it and probably be relatively happy with my purchase, but as a scrub, it just doesn’t scrub very well. To me, it’s a bit too thick without enough grit to do the job. This does leave your body smelling good though!

This product is another winner for me – firstly I think it’s one of the prettiest and I absolutely love the pretty little sachets (you get four) inside. These are perfectly portioned for a milky white, frothy and bubbly bath. It smells the best of the range for me and leaves the water feeling a lot softer and beneficial for your skin.

Overall, two out of my four products are winners for me and I’ll definitely be rebuying. I think they’re so pretty and I’m glad the fragrance has grown on me – it really does smell better after bathing in it than smelling it straight from the products themselves. Have you tried anything from this collection? What’s caught you eye the most?
