I love trying out new beauty brands, but I feel like I quite often steer away from clothes companies’ makeup as I just doubt the quality. With that being said, when I saw ASOS makeup popping up I wanted to give it a go because I’m fully obsessed with the company. They recently (and currently – but be quick!) had a deal of their ASOS box – for £12 you get five products and save 70% of the RRP, so could I say no? Obviously not. 😉
I didn’t get a choice in any of the shades included and although they wouldn’t have been my first choices I’m actually thrilled with the bunch. I feel like I’ve got a good round-up of the makeup quality and I’m excited to talk you through it! Firstly, how fricken cute is that packaging? It is quite clunky however I love the simplicity and the pink throughout, it’s definitely some of my favourite packaging – especially for cheaper products.
Lets start with the eyeshadow palette. Only the brown and red-toned shades are ones I would normally reach for, but I don’t own anything like the green shade on the end so I thought it’d be fun to play with. The quality of these shadows are really good – they’re super pigmented and really easily blendable, although I have to say the shades in this palette don’t all fit together. It is nice to have a range, but when it comes to smaller palettes I feel like the colours should complement each other and stick to the same family. I have my eyes on this palette, which I know I will completely love considering the quality is fab and the shades are right up my street.
This blush is absolutely the best of the bunch for me. It is incredible! Again, it’s really blendable, but also the perfect amount of pigmented – so it’s not a case of buffing for ages to get the right amount, just one or two swipes and you’ve nailed it. When I first swatched it I wasn’t too sure of the shade because it looks far too orange for a pale lass like me, but it works more as the best face-brightener you’ve ever seen. It brings such a healthy glow and looks less like you have a bunch of blush on, but like you’re just having the best day ever. You can buy this here – and if you’re going to consider any of the products, this is the one to get!
The only product I didn’t quite get on with was the liquid lipstick – but the shade really clashes with my colouring so maybe it’s not the most fair review. It’s also really drying compared to my fave NYX lingerie lipsticks and Kylie’s collection, so I won’t be buying this again. The eyeliner actually lasts forever, when I was swatching all these bad-boys on my arm, this simply wouldn’t wash off. Like you could actually swim in this stuff! I feel like gold shade is perfect for festival season and the party Christmas season.
Finally, the mascara is also so good. I had lowest expectations for this because I just feel like mascara is an art – even some of the most high-end brands just can’t get it right and it can be a really hard one to crack. This is actually one of the most lengthening mascaras I own, and it’s really not clumpy at all so I will repurchase this again and again. Honestly, it’s automatically replaced a lot of my much more expensive go-to mascaras. Singularly this is £8 and you can buy it here.
Swatch-city bitch! Overall I’m honestly taken aback by how amazing ASOS makeup is. It’s blown my expectations out of the park with some incredible gems – particularly the mascara and the blush – although with the eyeshadow palette in more ‘me’ tones and the fact the eyeliner will out-last an apocalypse, I love it all. (Just want to add here, this post isn’t sponsored in any way and I bought the makeup with my own money – as always all opinions are my own – this stuff is just ridiculously good.) Remember you can purchase the whole box here, but do be quick as it sold out in a couple of hours last time!
What do you think? Would you like to try ASOS makeup out?
