Party prep | Get ready with me

Hello you beauts! It’s been a looong time since I’ve written a good get ready with me post, but I always love reading them and wanted to share another of my own. This is my general date night/party prep routine and seeing as I really love a good pamper, I tend to go all out! I’d love to hear your party time preparation so let me know what you get up to or if we share similar routines!

I always start my little routine with a long relaxing bath – usually with a bath bomb from LUSH or similar. (Seeing as LUSH are upping their prices with what feels like every day I’ve found pretty suds to be an amazing alternative – a smaller business with all hand made products and some seriously innovative ideas!) I have a good soak, a shave (tasty I know,) and wash my hair. I like to do this step a little while before I actually need to get ready as I love slipping into a dressing gown afterwards and just feeling 100% relaxed and cosy. This is when I usually stick on a face mask and take care of my skin.

If I haven’t already done them, I paint my nails. I feel so much better about myself when my nails aren’t completely chipped – which they usually are – top beauty blogger over here! ๐Ÿ˜‰ But for special nights I like to make sure they look good. If I’m in a rush I usually lean towards my trusty elegant touch nails; I always have some stashed away in my makeup drawers. You just glue them on and voila, they look stunning. They dry super fast and usually last around a week with the glue included in the sets – although if you’re after longer lasting nails for holidays and stuff you should have a look at the nailene glue matched with the elegant touch nails, this stuff just doesn’t budge!

I pull my hair up out of the way and then get to work on my makeup, which doesn’t usually take that long for me now even when doing a full face. I know what I like and I know what accentuates my features and is flattering on me – I could probably do this step with my eyes closed ahah! I usually lean towards a smoky eye with the help of Urban Decay or Too Faced, and a nude lip. (NYX lip lingeries are fairly hard to budge, and sticking with a nude, muted lip tone is always the way forward for me when I’m having or meal or am going to be drinking anything so my makeup stays in place and I don’t have to worry.)

I normally curl my hair for nights out – straightened hair neeeever stays straight for more than 5 minutes on me, and I think the curls make my face look a lot less round – which it really is haha! For bigger parties out or weddings/prom events I love to get my hair professionally done. If you have prom coming up this year you can check out some ideas for prom hair styles here.

Finally I think(/worry ๐Ÿ˜‰ ) about my outfit. If I’m going to a themed party I’ll know what I’m wearing but other than that I generally have no idea and ransack my wardrobe in the midst of a mental break down. I swear nothing looks good when you really want to find something nice or if you’re on a schedule aha!

What do you do with your party prep?
